The Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) survey is now closed. We will conduct the lottery for UPK placements on Monday. However, due to a significant number of incomplete or incorrectly filled surveys, our team needs to carefully review the list of applicants. This review process may take a few days to ensure fairness and accuracy. To maintain transparency, we have invited representatives from HANC and YHT to attend the lottery process. We appreciate your patience as we work diligently to finalize the UPK placements. Updates will be posted on this website as soon as they become available.

Juneteenth, officially known as Juneteenth National Independence Day, is a holiday celebrated annually on June 19th in the United States. It commemorates the end of slavery in the country and dates back to June 19, 1865, when Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas, and announced that all enslaved people were free, effectively enforcing the Emancipation Proclamation issued by President Abraham Lincoln more than two years earlier. The name "Juneteenth" is a fusion of the words "June" and "nineteenth," marking the date when the last enslaved African Americans in the Confederate South finally learned of their emancipation. African American communities have celebrated the holiday since the late 19th century, but it gained more widespread recognition and observance in recent decades as a celebration of African American freedom, history, and culture. In 2021, Juneteenth became a federal holiday in the United States, officially recognized as Juneteenth National Independence Day. This official recognition highlights the continued efforts to acknowledge and address the country's history of slavery and racial injustice while also celebrating the resilience, contributions, and progress of African Americans in the ongoing pursuit of equality and justice.
