If you have not picked up an at-home test kit and would like to, please stop by Central today between 9am-6pm. We are located at 252 Chestnut St. This is for students in the district. Private school students will receive kits at their schools. Thank you. #RamResolve #RamPride

Each week we will select an HOM student ambassador to describe a recent situation when they used a Habit of Mind. Mia Machare (grade 8) was our first participant and she crushed it! Here's a portion of what she said - The habit of Finding Humor means finding the whimsical and unexpected in situations. It means actively looking for things to laugh about, and being able to laugh at oneself. Everyone can laugh, but not everyone can find humor. #RamResolve @WH_MSRams

Have you picked up your test kit? If not, please stop by the @WH_MSRams. We are here and happy to help. #RamResolve

School will be closed tomorrow due to the impending snow event and COVID staffing concerns. We will now have school on Friday, April 22. Be well, healthy, and safe. #RamResolve

We understand how hectic this time is and the difficulty in securing a PCR test. We are still asking for one if your child has COVID, even if the test results come after the quarantine period is over. For documentation purposes, please report your child's quarantine information to the Nassau County Department of Health website and send a copy of the quarantine letter to your child's teacher or building administration. The website address is https://app.nassaucountyny.gov/doh/IandQOrderRequest/. Thank you. #RamResolve

As some of you are aware, our research students have entered and are state winners for the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow Competition. Their project is to design a device that will detect water from excessive storm flooding within a home or apartment. They have created a survey to help them better understand what features should be included when developing a device for alerting the home owner and emergency services in the event of dangerous flooding. If you have experienced flooding in your home or apartment, please consider completing the survey. The link to the form is below. Also, please feel free to forward this e-mail to anyone you know that has experienced flooding in their residence due to a storm.

Earlier this afternoon, Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder announced that the department would be increasing its presence at school districts throughout our region tomorrow based on a new TikTok challenge. Students throughout the nation are encouraged to make threats against their schools on Dec. 17.
It is important to note that there have not been any specific threats made toward any of the schools in our community or any other Nassau County school; however, out of an abundance of caution, there will be an increased police presence at every school in Nassau County.
Please take this time to speak to your children about the importance of responsible social media use. They should never forward inappropriate or threatening social media messages to friends. Instead, please encourage them to immediately report any suspicious activity or threatening posts to a trusted adult. This information must be provided to law enforcement without delay.
Thank you for your attention and continued cooperation.

Our research students are once again state winners for the Samsung Solve For Tomorrow Competition. They won $6,500 for submitting their idea to create a device that can detect basement flooding. The device will be coded so that it will set off an alarm and contact the fire department. In light of recent tragedies in NYC where people drowned in basement apartments due to excessive rainfall, the students felt compelled to engineer an apparatus that could help prevent this from happening again in the future. The students are:
Hayder Jahangeer
Farell Sanchez (Leader)
Alicia Maria
Ethan Luong (Leader)
Dylan Ramsahai
Congratulations are in order as well for Mr. Trupia who leads the team.
Good luck in the National Semi-Finals! #RamPride #RamResolve
