The fall season for athletics for grades 7 and 8 begins on Tuesday, September 5th. Please refer to the athletics homepage on the district's website, https://www.whufsd.com/o/whhs/page/athletics. On the website there is information about the start dates for each sport for the 23-24 school year, the SportsYou code for each team, the practice schedule for the beginning of the season, etc.
Family ID (online registration) for the fall sports season for grades 7&8 will be open until August 20th (8:00pm). Please do not wait to register- it’s to your advantage to register early. The nurse is the only person to clear students to participate in athletics. The remaining dates the nurse will be in is August 21st, and August 22nd from 8:30am-1:30pm. AFTER AUGUST 22ND THERE WILL NOT BE A NURSE AVAILABLE TO CLEAR STUDENTS. There is no need to see the nurse unless you need to speak to her about a specific question or drop off medication for your child.
Physical forms should be uploaded to FamilyID. Please check the status of your child's physical. Students need a valid physical to participate in athletics. If you do not have a valid physical or are cleared by the nurse, you cannot start the season. There is a New York State practice requirement to participate in a game. All sports require 6 practices with the exception of football, it’s 10 practices.

- Cheerleading

If your child needs a physical, please contact your physician as soon as possible or your child can get a physical when the school doctor is in on August 21st. You need to bring in the permission slip to see the school doctor and hand it in to the nurse and arrive by 9:00am. The nurse needs to take your child's vital signs prior to the doctor's arrival. The doctor will be in at 9:45am. If you do not have a valid physical or are cleared by the nurse, you cannot start the season. There is a New York State practice requirement to participate in a game. All sports require 6 practices with the exception of football, it’s 10 practices.

West Hempstead School District seeks a Secondary School grades 9-12 Girls' Varsity Volleyball Coach. The candidate must be a certified teacher or possess a professional coaching license. All candidates must have the following certifications: first aid certification, CPR/AED certification, DASA certificate, child abuse certificate, violence prevention certificate, and New York State concussion certificate.
