Good afternoon,
The spring season for high school athletics begins tomorrow ( dress warm) for most sports with the exception of boys tennis and girls badminton which begin on March 21st.
In order for your child to try out, your child must be academically eligible. Eligibility is based on your child's second-quarter grades. If your child had two failures they would be on academic probation; more than two failures your child would be deemed academically ineligible.
If your child needs a physical the school doctor will be in on Wednesday, March 16th. If you want your child to see the school doctor please submit the parental consent form to the high school nurse by Monday, March 14th.
If you have not submitted your paperwork yet please submit your paperwork to the high school nurse by 9:00am tomorrow. It will take time for the nurse to review and process all paperwork tomorrow. If your paperwork is brought to the high school nurse after school (2:40pm) you will not be cleared until Tuesday to tryout.
All forms are located on the high school website. It is very important to submit your child's paperwork on time in order for your child to be eligible to participate in the first contest. All sports require 6 practices prior to the first game/contest with the exception of baseball which requires 10 practices.
As a reminder to all students and parents, student/athletes cannot wear jewelry for practices or games/contests. The New York State Public High School Athletic Association and the National Federal of High School Sports has a strict jewelry rule, unless there is a medical reason for the piercing no accommodations can be made for a student to participate while wearing jewelry. If you have any questions please contact the athletic office at 390-3253. Thank you.
