The West Hempstead Secondary School Rams boys cross country team capped off a memorable fall season.
The Rams were undefeated in their division and they finished with a record of 13-1 in their conference. Additionally, they finished third in Nassau County and they won the Nassau State Class C title, which qualified the Rams for the New York State Cross Country Championship as a team.
Out of the field of 97 runners from across Nassau County, West Hempstead had two finishes in the top 10, and none finished lower than 30th. Senior Justin Delavandel led the Rams with a time of 17:46.50 to earn eighth place.
Four athletes earned All-County: Justin Delavandel, Jeremy Haynes, Joseph Santos-Acosta, and Karen Orozco-Castro on the girls side. Athletes Christian Dominguez and Lukas Santana were named to the All-Conference team. At the State Championships, Lukas Santana was selected as the Nassau County Sportsmanship Representative.
