The West Hempstead School District is proud to announce that West Hempstead Secondary School cheerleading coaches Kristal Hernandez and Kristen Lynch were each named Nassau County Section 8 Class C Coach of the Year. Both coaches were recognized for their exceptional commitment, skill and passion in leading the Rams’ cheerleaders.
Coach Hernandez has coached at the varsity level for three years, bringing a wealth of experience from her time competing at the Division II collegiate level for Long Island University. During her collegiate career, she participated in multiple NCA National Championships, earning a notable second place in the intermediate small coed division. Drawing on this athletic background, Hernandez tailors her coaching to meet the unique challenges of high school cheerleading, fostering both skill development and team cohesion. She is deeply motivated by a focus on personal growth and athletic excellence, encouraging her athletes to continually strive for improvement. As she looks ahead, Hernandez is committed to the success of the West Hempstead cheerleading program and feels honored to be recognized as an exemplary coach in the Section 8 Class C division.
With more than a decade of experience, coach Lynch brings a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm to her role as cheerleading coach. She has successfully led teams to compete at the prestigious UCA Nationals multiple times and has guided them to impressive finishes, including several second-place wins in Nassau County. Known for her hard work, dedication, and passion for the sport, Lynch is committed to helping each athlete reach their full potential. Her deep understanding of cheerleading technique and her motivational spirit make her an invaluable asset to the Rams.
