On June 11, the West Hempstead School District celebrated 32 students who earned the New York State Seal of Biliteracy.
Students were recognized for completing rigorous academic courses and making presentations in multiple languages such as English, Spanish, French, Italian and Punjabi. Students will receive this designation on their high school diploma and will receive regalia for wearing on graduation day.

Additionally, Prabhnoor Singh is the first West Hempstead student to receive his seal for Punjabi and English.
The honorees were also treated to breakfast in West Hempstead Secondary School’s videoconference room. Along with the ENL department, students were recognized by the Principal Joe Pumo, the humanities department, district administrators and Superintendent of Schools Dan Rehman. The district congratulates all of the students who earned the Seal of Biliteracy.
