The West Hempstead School District celebrated School Board Recognition Week during their monthly meeting on Oct. 17.
West Hempstead Secondary School junior Dalia Zavala kicked off the evening with a musical performance on her flute. Her performance was followed by a musical selection from the West Hempstead Secondary School’s Chamber Choir. Laila Sales, the district’s director fine, performing, and culinary arts, thanked the district’s board members for their devotion to the school community.
“Our students’ need and desire to thrive is the heartbeat of our district,” Mrs. Sales said. “Your belief in the importance of holistic education for the growth of our students is truly inspiring. Words cannot fully capture the gratitude we feel for all that you do.”
The board members also received a collection of thank-you cards for their service to the school community. The New York State School Boards Association’s School Board Recognition Week spans from Oct. 16-20. The district wishes to thank all the board members for their dedication to the community.
