"You can't separate peace from freedom because no one can be at peace unless he has his freedom." - Malcolm X (1925-1965), whose powerful advocacy for Black pride and self-determination transformed the civil rights movement and continues to inspire generations. True contentment comes from living authentically and having the freedom to pursue your goals and express yourself. This doesn't mean doing whatever you want – it means understanding who you are and what you value and having the courage to live according to those values. We find inner peace and fulfillment when we feel free to be ourselves and pursue our dreams.

"It's not the load that breaks you down, it's the way you carry it." - Lena Horne (1917-2010), a groundbreaking entertainer who broke racial barriers in Hollywood and became one of the first African American actresses to sign a long-term contract with a major studio. How we approach our challenges often matters more than the challenges themselves. When facing difficulties, consider not just what you're dealing with, but how you're dealing with it. Are you seeking help when needed? Are you taking care of yourself? Are you learning from the experience? Developing healthy coping strategies and maintaining a positive attitude can make heavy burdens more manageable.

Did you know that Hazel Scott was a musical prodigy who broke barriers in both classical music and jazz? Born in 1920, she became the first African American woman to host her own TV show and refused to perform for segregated audiences! A Juilliard graduate who called Harlem home, Scott dazzled audiences with her ability to play two pianos at once and seamlessly blend classical music with jazz. Her talent and courage paved the way for future generations of artists. She stood up for civil rights at a time when speaking out came at great personal cost. Scott once said, "Who ever walked onto a stage with the idea of being second-rate?" Her determination to excel and demand equal treatment continues to inspire students today.

#WHe honor the courageous Black Marines who fought in one of WWII's most pivotal battles – Iwo Jima. Among the brave were Privates James M. Whitlock and James Davis of the 36th Company, who earned Bronze Stars for their heroic actions. These men were part of the Montford Point Marines - 20,000 Black Americans who broke barriers as the first African Americans in the Marine Corps. Despite serving in a segregated military, they displayed extraordinary courage and dedication defending our nation. While the iconic flag-raising photo captured an important moment, let's remember all the heroes of Iwo Jima, including the Montford Point Marines who helped secure this crucial victory. Their contributions paved the way for future generations of Black service members. #BlackHistory #MilitaryHistory #IwoJima #MontfordPointMarines #USMC

"Never be limited by other people's limited imaginations." - Dr. Mae Jemison (born 1956), who made history as the first African American woman to travel in space aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavour in 1992. Other people's doubts or limitations shouldn't define your potential. Throughout history, great achievements have come from people who dared to dream beyond what others thought possible. Your goals and aspirations should be based on your own vision for your life, not on others' expectations or fears. Listen to advice, but don't let anyone's skepticism diminish your dreams.
