Hello,
I hope everyone is enjoying their summer break. The fall season for athletics will be upon us very soon. Here is some important information for everyone if your child plans on playing a sport in the secondary school- either grades 7&8 or 9-12. FamilyID (online registration platform for athletics) will be open for grades 7&8 from August 7th-August 18th. Family ID will be open for grades 9-12 from July 31st-August 18th.
It is very important to register when FamilyID is open. The nurse is the only person who can clear students to participate in athletics. The nurse will be in the following dates during the summertime: August 8th, August 10th, August 21st and August 22nd.
It is very important to submit your information/paperwork through FamilyID in a timely fashion. There is a New York State practice requirement to be eligible to participate in athletics. All sports require 6 practices prior to a scrimmage or game with the exception of football. Football requires 10 practices prior to a scrimmage or game. If your child does nor meet the practice requirement they will not be eligible to play in a game.
If your child needs a physical (every student needs a current physical to participate in athletics; physical must be dated from November 22, 2022 to the present) please make the appointment now with your physician. The SportsYou (an app that is used to communicate information with students and parents) codes are also posted on the website for grades 7&8 and 9-12. Please refer to the district website (athletics). On the website it has the start dates, the practice schedule for the beginning of the season, the physical form, etc.
If you have any questions, please email me at cmistretta@whufsd.com. or call the athletic office at 516 390-3253. Thank you and have a great summer.
West Hempstead Alumni - Check The Team Store! The team store will be open until August 2nd. It will take 4-5 weeks to have items shipped to your house. Show your #RamSpirit and wear something at Homecoming, on September 30th. #WHeAreOne
