Prekindergarten and kindergarten students throughout Chestnut Street School in West Hempstead celebrated International Dot Day on Sept. 15.
International Dot Day is a global celebration of creativity, courage and collaboration, which is based on the Peter H. Reynolds book, “The Dot.” The story focuses on a caring teacher who dares a doubting student to trust in her own abilities by being brave enough to “make her mark.” What begins with a small dot on a piece of paper becomes a breakthrough in confidence and courage, igniting a journey of self-discovery and sharing.
Chestnut Street’s students wore colorful dotted hats, they colored in dots on paper plates and some even designed their own dotted shirts to celebrate the day.
