On June 9, the West Hempstead School District celebrated 15 students who earned the New York State Seal of Biliteracy.
Students were recognized for completing rigorous academic courses and making presentations in both English and Spanish or English and Italian. Additionally, of the 15 honorees, three were ENL senior students, a first for West Hempstead’s ENL program. Students will receive this designation on their high school diploma and will receive regalia for wearing on graduation day.
The honorees were also treated to breakfast in West Hempstead High School’s cafeteria. Along with the ENL department, students were recognized by the middle and high school principals, the humanities department, district administrators and Superintendent of Schools Dan Rehman. The district congratulates all of the students who earned the Seal of Biliteracy.
