Participation in Physical Education is a State-mandated graduation requirement for all students in each year of school attendance. The West Hempstead Physical Education Department recognizes the important role that Physical Education plays in the total school program. The goal of our dedicated staff at the high school is to foster a safe learning environment that helps each student acquire the knowledge, skills and appreciation for living a physically active, healthy life. Through our games and activities, we instill in our students problem-solving skills while learning to respect others, play fairly and have fun.
The focus of our high school program is to provide students the opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge necessary for participating in activities such as: weight training, tennis, badminton, team sports, cooperative games and many others. The comprehensive program of lifetime activities instills in our students the ability for maintaining a healthy lifestyle long after they graduate from high school.
