On Sept. 6, the West Hempstead School District welcomed new and returning students for the 2023-24 school year.
The students kicked off their first day with enthusiasm as they arrived at their schools ready for a new academic year. They were eager to return, see old friends and meet their new teachers.
For the pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students at Chestnut Street, the first day was made extra special thanks to a warm welcome from administrators and staff. Students settled into their classrooms quickly and participated in several activities to get to know their teachers and one another.
