On June 13, the West Hempstead School District’s Board of Education honored several students for participating in the annual Nassau County Empire State Games.
Student-athletes in grades K-12 competed at the 37th annual games in a variety of sporting events and challenges, including tack races, discus throwing, long jumps, wheelchair basketball, swimming, table tennis and archer.
Since its inception, the Empire State Games have encouraged skill development and sports participation, as well as foster sportsmanship and camaraderie for children of all ages.
