First graders at Cornwell Avenue School in West Hempstead are spreading warmth and joy this Thanksgiving by supporting families in need.
Students collected a variety of essentials such as canned goods, cereal, macaroni and cheese, muffin mix, pancake mix, and cake mix. They crafted several baskets and boxes and filled them with each item. Students delivered the donations to West Hempstead Secondary School on Nov. 17.
The activity served as a way for students to learn about the significance of Thanksgiving and to celebrate a time of gratitude and giving.
